Celebrating 25+ Years
Don’t Miss CPCA’s 2019 Annual Conference!

Join us on October 17th and 18th at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina for CPCA’s 2019 Annual Conference! This year CPCA is celebrating not only 25 years of statewide leadership, but also the tremendous work of California’s community health centers. This year’s conference program will honor the integral role health centers play in the health care system –with their exceptional ability for making an IMPACT, advocating for ACCESS, becoming leaders in INNOVATION, and adding VALUE in the communities they serve.

The conference will kick off with an update from new NACHC Board Chair, Lathran Woodard, CEO, South Carolina Primary Health Care Association, and what she hopes to accomplish during her term. This year’s morning awards program will honor and highlight our Community Health Center Heroes and Legacy Awardees, and also include a recognition of The California Endowment for their longstanding support.

We hope you are looking forward to our Keynote Speakers as much as we are! Thursday’s luncheon Keynote is Cecile Richards, former President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Co-Founder of Supermajority. A dynamic and empowering speaker who has addressed audiences everywhere from Talks at Google to Harvard University, Cecile Richards motivates audiences to action. Named to TIME’s “100 Most Influential People in the World”, she is celebrated for her vocal, dedicated and strategic leadership as well as her extensive advocacy experience at grassroots organizations, in the non-profit sector and in Washington. As the author of New York Times Bestseller, Make Trouble: Standing Up, Speaking Out, and Finding the Courage to Lead, Cecile offers powerful insights and sharp commentary on leadership, women’s rights, social justice, and politics. We are excited to announce that there will be a one-hour book signing following her talk!

Before the Friday Keynote speaker takes the stage, special guest speaker, Dr. Mark Ghaly, MPH, Secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency, will discuss his position and the Newsom Administration’s views on the future of health care in California.

The conference concludes on Friday with internationally recognized organizer, writer, and public speaker, Alicia Garza. Alicia is the Strategy & Partnerships Director for the National Domestic Workers Alliance, the nation’s premier voice for millions of domestic workers in the United States. Alicia is also the co-creator of #BlackLivesMatter and the Black Lives Matter Global Network, a global organizing project to end state violence and oppression against Black people. In 2018, Alicia founded the Black Futures Lab, an organization that designs new ways to build Black political power in cities and states. Her organizing brings together culture change and policy change.

Throughout the conference, attendees will be able to take advantage of more than 16 learning sessions that will feature presentations on Policy & Advocacy, Clinical Care & Innovations, Business Innovations, and Strategic Leadership. On Friday morning, we will be bringing back our popular Clinical Care & Innovations “mini-sessions”. These shorter concurrent sessions provide enhanced opportunities for peer learning through discussion of best practices and challenges featuring topics related to serving special populations and addressing Social Determinants of Health.

In addition to the educational sessions, the conference will include plenty of time for networking with vendors in the Tradeshow Pavilion – where we’ll get a glimpse into what the future of healthcare may look like. As part of the Tradeshow, attendees will enjoy exploring virtual reality stations, competing in interactive games through our event app (don’t worry – we still have Exhibitor BINGO!), and maybe even get a chance to chat with a humanoid robot (or two)!

It wouldn’t be a celebration without a party! Conference attendees are invited to enjoy Thursday evening’s “Modern Glow” 25th Anniversary Party overlooking the San Diego Bay. Help CPCA celebrate by joining friends and colleagues to revel in live music, enjoy delicious regional California food and beverage offerings, have some photo booth fun, and much more!

More information and the latest program updates can be found on the CPCA Annual Conference web site. We look forward to seeing you in October for our 2019 Annual Conference as we celebrate 25+ years of impact, access, innovation, and value -- here’s to the next 25!
