CPCA Programs Update

Leadership Equity Program Launch

In March 2022, CPCA hosted the official kickoff of the inaugural Leadership Equity Program (LEP) cohort at CPCA headquarters. The Leadership Equity Program offers both a cohort-based program for participating emerging leaders and capacity-building for their respective community health center (CHC) organizations - to achieve our vision to collectively strengthen community health centers' capacity to achieve just, healthy and equitable communities across California.

The inaugural cohort is composed of 20 diverse emerging c-suite leaders, 18 who identify as a person of color, and represent 16 CHCs and Regional Consortia across 12 counties. CPCA is working with two mission-driven and talented consulting teams, Mmapeu Consulting and WE in the World, who will be leading the design, development and implementation of the program curriculum and community well-being capstone. Cohort participants will engage in dynamic leadership training, including interactive in-person and virtual sessions, executive coaching, peer-to-peer learning, and a capstone project.

Additionally, the capacity-building design will support participating CHCs to advance emerging C-suite leaders and expand organizational innovations and place-based strategies centered Antiracism & Racial Equity; Organizational Innovative JEDI Culture; Growth and Professional Development Practices; and Place-Based Practices.

The development and launch of the leadership Equity Program has been made possible with funding support from The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”).

Strategic Workforce Planning Program

The California Primary Care Association (CPCA), with the support of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), developed a certificate program as part of a national initiative to increase and enhance the development of strategic workforce plans in community health centers (CHCs).

CPCA’s Strategic Workforce Planning Program is based on the Human Capital Institute’s industry-recognized Strategic Workforce Planning certification program but tailored to the unique needs of CHCs. The inaugural cohort completed their training in May 2022 and are developing their organization’s strategic workforce plans now. CPCA is preparing to open a new application cycle for the second cohort in June 2022. We are excited to announce that HRSA grant funding is available to cover the tuition costs for the second cohort, so we encourage you to take advantage of this limited opportunity. It is available to community health centers and regional clinic associations interested in obtaining a professional development opportunity, in-depth knowledge on strategic workforce planning, a certificate, and professional credits.
