CPCA Releases Three New Reports on Care Trends in California
California’s community health centers continue to drive measurable improvements across key health outcomes, as can be seen in three reports released by the California Primary Care Association (CPCA): Clinical Quality Metrics Trends in California: 2019–2023, Trends in Hypertension Control, and Ending the HIV Epidemic: Community Health Center Impact. These publications offer data-driven insights into statewide trends and showcase the role of health centers in closing gaps in care—from chronic disease management to epidemic response.
Clinical Quality Metrics Trends in California: 2019-2023
This report showcases the quality of care within our state’s health system. It includes key measures in areas such as behavioral health, preventive care, maternal health, and chronic disease management. The data presented reflects all health centers that have reported to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Uniform Data System (UDS), which serve as critical access points for underserved communities.
Trends in Hypertension Control
This report, in collaboration with Neighborhood Healthcare, presents a current view of hypertension control and care in California’s community health centers. Using UDS data from the past three years, the report shows that, while hypertension control is generally improving, some populations continue to experience lower rates. The report also presents sample best practices from Neighborhood Healthcare’s successful program to decrease blood pressure rate.
Ending the HIV Epidemic: Community Health Center Impact
The federal Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. (EHE) initiative is an ongoing effort to reduce the number of new HIV infections in the United States by at least 90% by 2030. Through Health Resource Services Administration (HRSA) programs, the health centers receive funding to help diagnosis, treat, prevent, and respond to end the HIV epidemic in the U.S. The data reflected in this report acknowledge the impact of community health centers and clinics in meeting EHE goals.
